To Whom It May Concern:
I’m Piero Tosi and I’m writing this letter after learning about The Secret of Joy Project from my esteemed colleague, Andrea Sorrentino, who will collaborate with director Max Bartoli, designing the costumes, the make-up and hair of the characters.
During my 50 years of career I’ve had the honor of creating costumes for some of the most influential and innovative directors of all time: Fellini, De Sica, Visconti and Pasolini. Through and thanks to their vision, my work has been nominated 5 times for an Oscar, an award that I was honored to receive in 2013 as a Lifetime Achievement.
I believe The Secret of Joy Project is a beautiful idea, visually and emotionally striking, a tale that could donate to the less fortunate children - those affected by cancer - the magic of a dream, bringing back the smile on their faces. I’m sure that Max Bartoli’s job will be touching, delicate and of high quality also thanks to the collaboration of Andrea Sorrentino, a designer and colleague whom I’ve personally known for the past fifteen years and who I consider a professional of huge talent e with a refined artistic taste.
I fully and unconditionally endorse this project and wish from the bottom of my heart to Max and Andrea all the success they deserve and especially to be able to make The Secret of Joy the way it deserves to be made. I strongly recommend all of you to support them however you can.
Thank you all for your generosity.
To the attn of Max Bartoli & Andrea Sorrentino
Dear Max and Andrea,
I’ve read with great pleasure the screenplay of “The Secret of Joy” and I found it a sweet, touching story with a tender sensibility. You managed to recreate King Arthur’s legend as if seen through the eyes of a 10 y.o. child without ever being trivial or predictable.
Having worked with esteemed directors such as: Paolo Sorrentino, Giuseppe Tornatore, Lina Wertmuller, Marco Bellocchio and others, I’ve always been sensible to stories that fill me with emotions.
I firmly believe this story can give hope to the parents of the children with cancer and a moment of serenity to their sons and daughters. Furthermore by donating the short film to the Kids’ Cancer Research Foundation you will help them to raise precious funds to fight the war against this disease.
I’ve also been very sensitive to the fight against cancer and for this reason I’d love to join you in Los Angeles and contribute with my participation in this production, but previous commitments force me to remain in Italy.
One thing I can do though - besides wishing you all the success you deserve - is to invite everyone to support this project to the best of their resources.
